The Faculty of Medicine of the Albert-Ludwigs-University Freiburg invites applications for a position as
W 3-Professorship in Internal Medicine
Chair of Gastroenterology, Hepatology,
Endocrinology and Infectious Diseases
The future holder of the position will represent the above specialties in research and teaching. She/ he should complement the existing research priority areas of the Faculty of Medicine, especially in the field of hepatology. It is envisaged to establish another DFG Sonderforschungsbereich.
The future holder of the position will be the Medical Director of Division II of the Department of Medicine (Gastroenterology, Hepatology, Endocrinology and Infectious Diseases) of the University Hospital Freiburg and should have administrative experience and management skills. It is planned to reorganize the clinical units. The care for in- and outpatients will be part of a separate contract with the administration of the University Hospital.
An MD degree, a board certification in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology and a postdoctoral lecturer qualification (Habilitation) or the equivalent are required. Internationally recognized research achievements, experience in the acquisition of competitive third-party funding and in implementation of educational and research programs are expected. Selected applicants will be invited to give a lecture. In addition, applicants must have demonstrated administrative and managerial skills, esp, with respect to resource management.
The W 3-professorship is tenured according to § 50, para 1, State University Law (Landeshochschulgesetz) and will be available October 01, 2012.
