The Faculty of Medicine of the Albert-Ludwigs-University Freiburg/ Germany invites applications for a position as
W 3-Professor for Nuclear Medicine (Chair)
The future holder of the Chair (male/female) will represent this field in research, teaching and patient care. He/she will also be the Head of the Department of Nuclear Medicine of the University Medical Center Freiburg.
Interested individuals should possess outstanding scientific qualification in the field of molecular imaging and therapy and comprehensive, long standing experience in the whole field of nuclear medicine. They are also expected to collaborate with the existing research groups and the interdisciplinary centers of the faculty of medicine.
The duties and responsibilities in the field of patient care will be subject to a separate employment contract with the University Medical Center Freiburg.
A MD degree, a board certification in Nuclear Medicine and a postdoctoral lecturing qualification (Habilitation) or the equivalent are required. Candidates must have demonstrated administrative and managerial skills by leading a scientifically and clinically orientated nuclear medicine research group. Internationally recognized research achievements, experience in the acquisition of competitive thirdparty funding and outstanding teaching skills are expected.
The holder of the Chair will lead molecular imaging and therapy of diseases (with an emphasis on neurological and oncological disorders) from the synthesis of new radiopharmaceuticals and testing in animal models to clinical application. Requirements are broad clinical experience and proven capabilities in the development of preclinical and clinical nuclear medicine methods.
The W 3-professorship is tenured according to § 50 para. 1 State University Law (Landeshochschulgesetz) and available immediately.
