W3 Professorship (Full Professor)
Chair of "Textile Engineering / Fiber-Based Materials / Textile Mechanical Engineering", in combination with the position of a Managing Director of the Institute of Textile Technology and Process Engineering (ITV) of the DITF
This position is available by April 1st, 2013.
This W3 Professorship entails the position of a Managing Director of the Institute of Textile Technology and Process Engineering (ITV) of the German Institutes of Textile and Fiber research (DITF) in part time.
We wish to hire a renown researcher with outstanding internationally visible competence in textile processing, who can represent the areas of textile processing and fiber-based materials both in research and teaching. Profound experience in both interdisciplinary fundamental and application-oriented research, in technology transfer in the area of technical textiles, in research management as well as industrial experience in textile engineering are expected. An expertise in at least one of the areas of lightweight construction / fiber-reinforced materials, medical textiles and medical engineering as well as textile mechanical engineering are expected.
Priority research areas can be in the manufacturing and processing of textile materials and matters for the areas of technical textiles, fiber-based materials, medical engineering, textile-integrated micro-systems and bionics. These research areas are expected to be carried out in coordination with the other institutes and organizations of the DITF. Cooperation with the Faculty of Energy Technology, Process Engineering and Biological Engineering, the University of Stuttgart, the DITF as well as with relevant research networks is expected. The candidate shall help to develop the priority areas in process engineering and material science of both the Faculty and the University of Stuttgart. Furthermore, participation in interdisciplinary education in the programs of study in process engineering, medical engineering, mechanical engineering and technology management is mandatory.
The position of the Managing Director at the DITF is limited to five years and can be further extended in 5 year intervals.
