Theory Department:

Teaching Assistant

The German University in Cairo seeks applicants for a three year contract position at the rank of a Teaching Assistant within the Faculty of Applied Sciences and Arts, Theory Department.
 
The German University is currently looking to expand its academic staff at undergraduate and graduate level due to the enlarging faculty.
 
The particular teaching activities cover guiding and supporting design students alongside the theory courses and lectures. Furthermore teaching assistants are expected to take over duties of organizing and co-teaching within interdisciplinary teams of academics as well as external partners and with a variety of students coming from diverse cultural backgrounds. They need to undertake administrative responsibilities within assigned projects, research fields as well as faculty issues.

It is highly appreciated if applicants demonstrate their research interest.
 

Objectives/requirements of the position

The positions will preferably be occupied by MA holders specialized in the field of design research, social science, cultural science, art history. A background in academics and/or practical fields is highly appreciated.

 
Applicants should have:
-       Competence of working well with people from diverse cultural backgrounds, professional training and aesthetic sensibilities
-       Ability to develop and manage research and project preparations independently
-       Good research, writing and interpersonal communication skills
-       Good management skills, including the ability to meet deadlines, communicate and motivate effectively
-       Teaching experience is not mandatory but a plus
