The DZNE advertises positions for
Research technician
The DZNE is a newly created center of excellence within the Helmholtz Association that will perform translational research on Neurodegenerative Diseases. The center includes a major site in Bonn and additional sites in Goettingen, Magdeburg, Muenchen, Rostock/Greifswald, Tuebingen and Witten/Herdecke.
Applications for a research technician position (e.g. MTA, BTA) in Dr. Remy`s group at the DZNE in Bonn are welcome. The group is interested in the cellular mechanisms underlying cognitive dysfunction with a focus on dendritic signal integration in neurons. We use state of the art techniques (patch-clamp in brain slices, neurotransmitter uncaging, multiphoton imaging, optogenetic control of neuronal function in-vitro and in-vivo) to study synaptic signal integration and plasticity, neuromodulation and the role of inhibitory circuits (Remy and Spruston PNAS 2007;104(43):17192-7, Remy et al. Neuron 2009;61(6):906-16).
The applicant should have experience in basic cell and molecular biology techniques. Prior experience in immunohistochemistry, light-microscopy, genotyping and animal care (mice and rats) is of advantage. Good organization and communication skills and proficiency with standard computer applications are required. For further information, please contact Dr. Stefan Remy (stefan.remy@ukb.uni-bonn.de).
Employment, payment and social benefits are determined by the Public Sector Collective Agreement (Tarifvertrag für den öffentlichen Dienst – TVöD). The job location is Bonn, Germany.
