The Department of Economics and Business Administration is seeking a professor (at the German professors’ salary level W2) for the following position:
Professor of Human Resource Management and Organizational Design W2
The faculty member in this position will teach applied bachelor and master level courses and will conduct research covering the entire range of Human Resource Management and Organizational Design. The ideal candidate should be able to provide evidence of substantial professional management experience in one of these fields and should have:
- Experience in an international context and/or in a particular industry, e.g., in knowledge intensive industries
- Experience resulting from personnel responsibility
- A track record in internationally oriented HRM and/or Organizational Design research and publications
- Active memberships in professional associations
Moreover, the candidate must be willing to teach a variety of introductory-level management courses. International candidates are welcome to initially teach entirely in English and should commit to learning German in a reasonable period. The willingness to contribute to the further development of the existing HRM and Organizational Design focus with respect to the internationalization strategy of the University is also expected.

Professional Requirements:
Based on the English-speaking lecture requirements, we address candidates with English as a native language or with an outstanding command of English. International applicants who would initially teach in English only must agree to learn German in a reasonable time frame. In order to facilitate the communication with international students, the successful candidate should possess a high level of intercultural competence.
The appointment to professorship requires fulfillment of the conditions as laid out in paragraph 100 of the Berlin Higher Education Act (BerlHG). This includes, but is not limited to, a higher education degree and a doctoral degree, scientific and practical experience pertinent to the subjects as specified above, and a track record of good teaching skills, which may be supported, for instance, by teaching experience as a lecturer or teacher in institutions of higher education, vocational schools or ongoing professional training. The work experience has to be at least 5 years thereof 3 years outside university.
The position requires participation in the academic self-administration of the Berlin School of Economics and Law.
The Berlin School of Economics and Law attaches great importance to an intensive mentoring relationship with the students; therefore, we expect our teaching staff to show a high level of presence at the School. In order to strengthen the integration of the School within the Berlin region, we assume that the appointee will move his or her residence into the region.
