The Faculty of Print and Media is seeking to fill the following professorial position on the Print-Media-Management degree course:
PROFESSOR OF
PROCESS MANAGEMENT IN THE PRINT AND MEDIA INDUSTRY
On the basic degree course Print-Media-Management (Bachelor) and the consecutive Master’s degree course Print and Publishing, the post holder will be expected to convey in his or her teaching the following specialist knowledge in process management as it relates in particular to the print and media industry:
- Process and technology management
- Print PPS systems, focusing on industrial manufacturing processes and process optimisation
- Projects on process optimisation in the print industry, focusing on networking in the print and publishing industry
- Simulation of processes in the print and media industry.
The future post holder will have an in-depth understanding of ideally all printing methods, the ability to identify cutting-edge developments in the print and media industry, and outstanding knowledge in the field of process and technology management in the print or packaging industry. He or she will be required to systematically develop and enhance associated teaching contents and initiate appropriate research projects.
The successful candidate will hold a degree in an economics or industrial engineering subject and a doctorate, and also have professional experience, at least three years of which gained in a non-academic environment – ideally in a printing or publishing company –, with demonstrable successes attributable to his or her role.
He or she will in particular be expected to demonstrate innovation and creativity in teaching, and a special affinity to research.
In addition, the post holder will be required to set up a process simulation laboratory and subsequently manage this laboratory.

Candidates must meet the requirements of § 47 of the Baden-Württemberg University Act (LHG Baden-Württemberg). The post holder’s remit particularly also includes providing support for study and project theses and co-operating with practising professionals in the industry. Moreover, the post holder will be expected to actively participate in the university's self-administration and matters of ongoing study and curriculum development. Openness to new forms of university teaching is a requirement.
