The Mechanical Engineering/Product Development study program as well as Mechanical Engineering/Production Technology study program is looking for applicants for the following professorship:

LEIGHTWEIGHT ENGINEERING

For this professorship we are seeking personalities who are well established in the scientific community and also have a record of professional experience in the industry - leading positions are welcome. We expect profound knowledge in the following fields:
- engineering mechanics
- simulation and experiment in the field of structural durability
- experience with lightweight and composite materials
Applicants qualified for the W3-postion are expected to have a well established network within the structural durability community and have published in that field. They have already successfully acquired third-party funds or bring along compelling concepts for establishing their own research focus.
Furthermore, applicants are expected to show excellent didactic abilities and a pronounced interest in teaching. In addition to the teaching in their specific field of expertise, this also includes the readiness of teaching fundamentals of mechanical engineering such as engineering mechanics and strength of materials. Moreover, he/ she will be expected to be able to teach in English as well as the willingness to contribute to the self-administration of the university.

The formal requirements for applicants are a university degree and a Ph.D. or a comparable scientific qualification. A minimum of five years of postgraduate experience is required, of which a minimum of three years must have been gained outside the university. The successful applicant will initially be offered a tenured position on probation, which will automatically be changed to a tenured position when
