The University of Design Schwaebisch Gmuend (HfG) invites applications for the position of a
Professor for Interaction Design
(W2 salary group)
The position is currently vacant and will be a temporary appointment terminating on 31 August, 2017.
Job description and tasks:
Teaching the entire design process and methods from conception and sketches, to simulation and final realization in the fields of Application Design, Interface Design and Interactive and Networked based Communication Systems.
Applicants should have thorough and well-tested pedagogical concept for teaching interaction design in both theory and practice (1). In addition they should have specialised knowledge and experience in multidisciplinary project development (2), teaching and project mentoring at both BA and MA levels. The successful applicant will be expected to mentor student projects in our BA degree programs Product Design and Communication Design and also the MA program Communication Planning and Design. Furthermore, they will be jointly responsible for the further development of the HfG Media Lab.
Qualifications and prerequisites:
Appropriate university degree, outstanding professional achievements und pedagogical aptitude; at least five years of successful vocational practice of which three years have to be outside the academic sector. Willingness to teach in both German and English and active participation in the university's administration.
