The GIGA German Institute of Global and Area Studies is searching to fill a
PhD Position in IR and Comparative Area Studies - Regional Focus: South Asia
as part of a comparative research project entitled "Power Relations in South Asia, South America and sub-Saharan Africa" funded by the Volkswagen Foundation. The successful candidate will conduct a case study on South Asia, stressing the foreign policy interests and strategies of India and Pakistan.
Candidates must have a master's degree in international relations, political science or a re-lated field, knowledge of international relations theories and the foreign policy of South Asian states and excellent spoken and written English skills.
The successful applicant will receive a monthly stipend of 1,400 euros financed by the Volkswagen Foundation. In the course of the project, travel grants will be available to finance field research in India and Pakistan.
