PhD Position for MRI-Methodology
Functional Area: Research
Job Description: A PhD position is available in the Experimental Cardiovascular Imaging Group at the University of Ulm. The group is well embedded in the clinical environment of the Cardiology Department of the University Hospital with strong links into the technical faculties of the University.
This project is supported by a European Research Grant within the EU FP 7 and will be conducted in close collaboration with the Max Plank Institute of Polymer Research (Prof. K. Landfester), the Institute of Orthopaedic Research and Biomechanics (Prof. Ignatius) and other institutes of the University.
The objective of the PhD thesis is the development and in-vitro and in-vivo evaluation of MRI methods enabling the high sensitive assessment of the migration of labelled stem cells. Special focus will be put on the high sensitive quantification of local MRI contrast agent accumulations and new methods for generating contrast.
The lab provides cutting edge clinical and research technology including 1.5T and 3T cardiac whole-body scanners both equipped with 32 channel technology and a 11.7T small animal scanner. For all systems full access to the respective pulse programming environment is ensured, enabling adaptation of the scanner pulse sequences as required.
Requirements: Candidates should have a university education in physics, electrical engineering or related topics with above-average degree. Sound knowledge of physical and mathematical basics is required. Programming experience (C, C++, C#) and experiences in medical imaging especially in MRI would be advantageous.
The University of Ulm aims to increase the number of women among the faculty staff and therefore explicitly encourage the application of female scientists.
Please send your application until April 1st, 2010.
Ulm University is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes applications from all qualified individuals.
