The Department of Natural and Materials Sciences is currently accepting applications for a
Full Professorship (W3) in
„Plastics Engineering“
to be appointed as of the earliest possible date.
The candidate will be expected to represent and advance Plastics Engineering in research and teaching as a part of the interdisciplinary research area focusing on „Materials and Machines“. Plastics Engineering at Clausthal University of Technology (TUC) represents an important link between Polymer Chemistry and Mechanical Engineering. Thus, participation in the new TUC Center of Materials Technology will have high priority. Successful candidates should have demonstrated excellence in Plastics Engineering − especially in the field of fiber-reinforced composites − and are expected to have previous expertise in polymeric materials and multi-materials systems. Moreover, the candidate must demonstrate excellent networking capabilities.
Teaching obligations cover modules in bachelor and master study programs related to materials science and materials engineering. Although the language of instruction is German, a good command of English is required, so that the lectures may be held in English, too. It is furthermore expected that applicants are willing to take part in the academic self-administration at TUC.
The conditions of appointment are according to § 25 of the Lower Saxony Higher Education Act (Niedersächsisches Hochschulgesetz NHG).
Clausthal University of Technology is a member of the Lower Saxony University of Technology (NTH), which is comprised of siting professors at TUC. The candidate will be expected to participate in coordinated, interdisciplinary programs within TUC, the NTH and on national and international levels. In particular, contributions to teaching and research at the technically oriented institutions within Lower Saxony are expected, specifically at the NTH. Further information about TUC and NTH may be found under: http://www.tu-clausthal.de/ and http://www.nth-online.org, respectively.
The position is not suited for part-time employment.
Clausthal University of Technology aspires to increase the number of its female faculty. Therefore, applications from female candidates are particularly welcome.
Candidates with disabilities, who are equally qualified, will be given preference.
Applications from international candidates are highly encouraged. Prior knowledge of German is expected together with the willingness to gain proficiency to be able to assume leading positions within the academic self-administration.
Candidates who have reached the age of fifty at the time of appointment and who do not already hold civil servant status qualify only for the employee status.
For further information, please contact the chairman of the appointment committee, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Thomas Turek, Tel. +49 (0) 5323 72-2184, E-Mail: turek@icvt.tu-clausthal.de, who will be pleased to assist.
Please apply with the usual documents (CV, transcripts, lecturing experience, list of publications) by March 31st, 2013 to the
