The Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy of the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU) invites applications for a

Full Professorship (W3)
for Biophysical Chemistry

commencing on April, 1st 2013.

The successful candidate is expected to represent the field of Biophysical Chemistry in research and the field of Physical Chemistry in teaching.

The position will play a key role in the development of quantitative and mechanistic investigations of chemical and biological systems, and complements existing research activities at the LMU. The newly appointed professor will be active in method development, e.g., in the areas of spectroscopy and/or superresolution microscopy, and collaborate with research groups in chemistry, physics and biology. Active participation in the local research networks, including the Excellence Clusters "Center for Integrated Protein Science Munich" (CIPSM) and "Nanosystems Initiative Munich" (NIM) is highly desirable.

Prerequisites for this position are a university degree, a doctoral degree, teaching skills at university level and a post-doctoral degree (Habilitation) or equivalent qualification that may have been gained outside the university or may consist in a junior professorship.

Candidates for this position should be aged 52 or under at the time of appointment. Exceptions thereto may be considered in the case of outstanding candidates.
