The Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Stuttgart invites applications for the position of a

Full Professor (W3)

in "Construction Materials"

to be filled at the earliest possible date.

 

The appointee will represent the field of all construction materials in both research and teaching. The professorship is integrated into the "Civil Engineering", "Real Estate Engineering and Management" and "Environmental Engineering" study courses, which are taught in German, as well as the international graduate programs "Computational Mechanics of Materials and Structures" and "Infrastructure Planning", which are taught in English.

 

The Position entails the management of the Institute of Construction Materials (IWB), which is composed of two departments "Materials and Construction" and "Fastening Technology". The position holder is also member of the joint leadership of the Materialprüfungsanstalt Universität Stuttgart (MPA). The MPA is a central facility of the University of Stuttgart. With a high level of financial support from industry, the MPA has at its disposal the personnel and experimental facilities necessary to perform qualified research and materials testing in nearly all fields of civil and mechanical engineering. Additionally, the Position encompasses the coordination of experimental investigations of the construction engineering institutes at the MPA.

 

Applicants are expected to demonstrate exceptional scientific achievements in their field of research, the ability to work interdisciplinary and highly developed didactic skills. Leadership qualities, as well as practical experience are desirable. Fields of research should amongst others cover durability and sustainability of materials and structures, as well as new materials.

 

The requirements for employment listed in § Baden-Württemberg university law apply; in case of first appointment as professor employment can be limited to three years.
