FORMATIONS OF THE GLOBAL

The Graduate Program ‘Formations of the Global’ in the School of Humanities at the University of Mannheim, Germany, is  offering eight doctoral scholarships (beginning September 1st, 2012; awarded for a maximum of three years). Applicants are  expected to write dissertations in one of the following disciplines: Media and Communication Studies, History, Literary and  Cultural Studies / Linguistics (with a special focus on English, American and Romance Studies).

International students with a good working knowledge of German are strongly encouraged to apply. Dissertations can be  written in English or German, the language of instruction is German.

Applicants must have successfully completed an M.A. or an equivalent degree by July 2012. Further requirements are an  innovative and feasible dissertation project, the fellows' presence in Mannheim as well as participation in the accompanying  graduate studies program. Scholarships and allowances are awarded according to the regulations of the  Landesgraduiertenförderungsgesetz (LGFG) of the state of Baden-Württemberg (1.200 Euros per month plus optional  allowances depending on individual circumstances).
