The Faculty of Medicine, Albert-Ludwigs-University Freiburg/ Germany invites applications for an
Endowed Professor (W 3) for Palliative Medicine
The applicant is expected to represent palliative medicine in research, teaching and patient care. Through the endowed professorship for palliative medicine the interdisciplinary collaboration between the University and the University Hospital Freiburg in research and teaching should be intensified, incl. ongoing as well as new interdisciplinary projects. Close interactions with the established research cluster 'Life Sciences' of the University Freiburg and the Comprehensive Cancer Center Freiburg (CCCF) of the University Hospital are of central importance.
The applicant should meet the following requirements: MD degree, ’Habilitation‘ or equivalent academic qualifications and additional qualifications demonstrating an outstanding expertise in palliative medicine. It is expected that the applicant has demonstrated leadership skills, mentorship talents in supervising MD and PhD students, a vision how to achieve and maintain excellence in research and teaching in palliative medicine at an international level as well as clinical experience.
The endowed professorship is funded for five years by the German Cancer Aid (Deutsche Krebshilfe). In case of a positive evaluation at the end of this period a tenure position is offered without a new application procedure.
