invites applications for an

Academic Program Coordinator

for the

International Georg Arnhold Program on Education for Sustainable Peace.

The Georg Arnhold program seeks to inspire and promote research into education for sustainable peace with particular focus on educational media. It also aims to encourage the exchange of ideas between scholars, the media, politics and civil society. The program consists of the Georg Arnhold visiting professorship, which is awarded annually, a summer school and a symposium.

Duties and responsibilities include

  • organization and creative development of the program,
  • administration of finances,
  • public relations work for all elements of the program,
  • organization of the summer school and the symposium.

The successful candidate will also be responsible for building up and maintaining an international network for educational media research focusing on "Education for Sustainable Peace", as well as an accompanying program of public events. If time allows, the successful candidate will be given the opportunity to conduct a research project which is complementary to the program.

Candidates are required to have a high quality degree in a subject related to a key area of the institute's work, in addition to strong experience in academic management. The ideal can­di­date will also have excellent communication and organizational skills and be confident dealing with national and international representatives from academia, the media, civil society and politics. Excellent knowledge of German and English would complete the profile.

It would be advantageous for candidates to have a Ph.D. in a pertinent field and experience in obtaining external funding.

The position offers the opportunity for exceedingly interesting and varied work in an in­ter­na­tio­nally active, non-university institute, which closely connects research and knowledge transfer.

The pay scale grouping for the position is TV-L 13 (German federal public service scale), pro­vi­ding all conditions for that grouping are fulfilled. This is a full-time position, of five years du­ra­tion. The Georg Eckert Institute is committed to providing equal employment opportunities to men and women.
