The Berlin Mathematical School (BMS) is a joint graduate program between the mathematics departments at the three universities in Berlin: Freie Universität (FU), Humboldt-Universität (HU), and Technische Universität (TU). The BMS is funded by the DFG (German Research Foundation) as part of the “Excellence Initiative“.

We offer an excellent PhD program taught in English in a broad and active research environment together with mentoring programs, language courses, soft skills seminars, summer schools, a buddy program, and provide financial support for conferences as well as support for students with children.

Applications for admission and financial support are invited from talented students completing their bachelor‘s degree and above. Women are particularly encouraged to apply.

Applications for the 2010/11 academic year will be accepted from September 1, 2009 to May 31, 2010! Applicants interested in BMS scholarships must submit their application by December 31, 2009! From January 2010 until May 31, 2010 applications will still be accepted but allocation of funding will be subject to availability.
