The Bavarian State Ministry of Sciences, Research and the Arts establishes − within the framework of the Elite Network of Bavaria − up to
5 new International Junior Research Groups
specializing in the life sciences,
natural sciences and engineering
at Bavarian universities starting in 2014.
The research projects should be embedded in the current topics of the respective Elite Graduate Programs or the International Doctorate Programs in the Elite Network of Bavaria and complement them.
The International Junior Research Groups, selected in a competitive two-step process, will be funded over a period of 5 years with one position for the head of the research group (TVL-E 14 or E 15), up to two additional positions (TVL-E 13) and an attractive funding allocation.
Prerequisites for a successful application are scientific excellence and an innovative and original research proposal at the frontier of knowledge in the respective subject field.
An application is possible after a previous consultation with scientists involved in the current Elite Graduate Programs or the International Doctorate Programs in the Elite Network of Bavaria. Eligible applicants are suitably qualified people from Germany or abroad who completed their doctoral thesis two to five years before (by successfully passing the final oral exam) and who have not been working at the host institution in the two years before the start of the research groups.
Draft proposals must be submitted to the coordination office of the Elite Network of Bavaria by 12 April 2013. After a positive assessment by an expert review panel, the office will ask for proposals.
