1 PhD position
for 3 years.
Successful candidates will work in a project on
“The function of the gastrointestinal glutathione peroxidase (GPx2) in the healthy intestine, during colitis and colorectal cancer“
The work is founded by the DFG, the central research funding organisation in Germany.
Tasks
- Analyse the development of colitis in wild type and GPx2 knockout mice with different selenium supply
- Identify mechanisms for a putative anti-apoptotic, anti-inflammatory and anti-carcinogenic function of GPx2
Skills
We are looking for highly motivated postgraduates with excellent grades and training in biomedical/nutritional sciences or related areas. Knowledge of basic methods in molecular biology (qPCR, reporter gene assays, promoter analysis), protein analysis (Western Blot, enzyme kinetics), histology and immunhistochemistry is desirable, as well as experience with animal handling and testing. We expect the motivation to work in a team, also on an international level. The applicant should be fluent in English.
