Students may also train to be teachers of music or prepare for an academic career (including doctorates) at the university.

Networked university

During the university reforms of recent years, and more especially in connection with the focus on cultural education, opening up of universities and improvement of the quality of teaching, Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts has turned its focus equally towards the promotion of excellence and general education. Today the university is an excellent example of the networked university whose influence extends into society and that also trains for society. The university cooperates closely with important cultural institutions, both in Hesse and throughout Germany and, in conjunction with partner institutes, develops innovative and unique courses such as the Kronberg Academy Master and the master's course with the Ensemble Modern (IEMA) or with the University of Giessen (CUP). At the same time it supports long-term general educational projects in and with schools in order to promote music and the performing arts on a wider scale. Hesse's only university for music, theatre and dance has a clear mission: It strives to fill people with enthusiasm for the arts and to preserve and expand a vivid cultural life.
