Dresden University of Music

The Dresden University of Music belongs to the oldest of his kind in Germany. Today, more than 600 students from all over the world study at the university.

As a place for studying, Dresden combines the atmosphere of a lively, modern city with the tradition of art and culture. The cultural life of Dresden impresses with a broad range of concert events, famous museums and a vivid, stimulating art scene that offers an environment for young and experimental art to develop.

The surroundings of the city are well known for its scenic attractions. Due to the geopolitical location, Dresden is situated closely to the neighbouring countries Poland and the Czech Republic, influences of the musical centres in Silesia and the Bohemian regions enrich the art spectrum of the town and contribute to the special profile of the Dresden University of Music.

In time for the beginning of the academic year 2008/09 a new part of the university building including classrooms, a rehearsal stage, a library and a concert hall for 450 people was opened. By now all institutes of the university are united at one campus.
