Detmold has always put special emphasis on the practical, public playing of music. As the Hochschule holds more than 400 concerts per year, at many concert halls, studio stages and even theatres, and because the particularly involved citizens of Detmold follow these events with great interest, the study course "Podium Training" offers a special, close-to-reality, quality.

The Hochschule für Musik Detmold sees it as one of its main tasks to, in future, intensify the support and training of the musically gifted. This special training and support for young gifted scholars will be the main focus at the Detmolder Hochbegabtenzentrum. The DHZ will work closely with the Institut für Begabungsforschung (Institute for research on the gifted), which is located at the university of Paderborn. The training will be offered with its usual scope, which will not only focus on the artistic person, but also on the development of the total personality.
