A Passion for Music

If your aim is to make your passion for music into a career, the Robert Schumann University offers a wide range of teaching, from artistic degree courses such as "Music" and "Musical Communication" to the artistic and technical subject "Sound and Image". The standard period of study for these Bachelor degree courses is eight semesters. There are also several postgraduate degree courses, the Master's degree course "Orchestra Performance" and the supplementary degree courses "Chamber Music" and "Piano Chamber Music and Accompaniment".

In addition to graduate and postgraduate forms of study, the university offers especially gifted youths the opportunity to study at its training centre for young musicians ("Schumann junior"), while music enthusiasts can register as extra-mural students in the fields of "Musicology" and "Music Theory".

Bachelor degree courses leading to a "Bachelor of Music" degree

  • Artistic degree course "Music": orchestral instruments, vocal studies, guitar, piano, organ and composition
  • Artistic degree course "Musical Communication": orchestral instruments, vocal studies, guitar, piano, organ, recorder, church music (Protestant and Catholic), music theory and aural training, conducting (disciplines: orchestra conducting and choral conducting), music education, "Music and Media", "Sound and Image" (in co-operation with the Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences)
  • Musicology as a supplementary subject with the Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf

Master's degree course "Orchestral Performance"
